ABOUT

MY PROCESS

I work primarily with plaster, papier mâché, mesh wire, plaster paper, acrylic paint, and layered finishes. Each piece is built by hand, with an emphasis on experimentation and allowing the materials to guide the process.

Every work begins with an armature that I shape and refine without a predetermined outcome. Rather than sketching a final design, I allow the form to develop as I work, responding to what feels natural along the way.

Once the structure is established, I begin exploring the personality of the piece through color, texture, and finish. Some works take on bold metallic surfaces and exaggerated forms, while others develop earthy palettes, weathered textures, and more subtle shapes.

I often compare my process to water. Water doesn't force its path. It responds, adapts, and moves with what's around it. I approach my work in a similar way, allowing each decision to inform the next rather than trying to control the final result from the beginning.

Although my process is intuitive, it's also intentional. I continue shaping, adjusting, and refining until a piece feels complete. This approach allows me to experiment freely, and it's also why no two pieces are ever exactly alike.

THE ARTIST

I'm a mixed media artist creating original sculptural wall art, largely inspired by the natural world.

Before diving deeper into my artistic journey, I studied psychology. That foundation continues to influence how I think about our environments and the relationship between the spaces we occupy and how we feel. I've always believed that art has the ability to influence both.

It's part of why I love creating pieces that range from earthy textures and neutral tones to exaggerated curves, sharp corners, and bold expressions of color. Each piece reflects something different, often influenced by the energy and emotions I'm experiencing during its creation.

My hope is that my work brings something meaningful to the spaces it occupies, whatever that may look like for you. Art can soften a room, change how a space feels, or make a home feel more personal. Maybe a piece resonates with you emotionally, or maybe you simply love how it complements your decor. I appreciate both.

WHY I CREATE

I've always been drawn to different forms of creative expression. Art has given me another way to express things I haven't always been able to translate into words. I experience something similar through dance. When I'm moving, there's a dialog happening in real time that I understand completely, even without words. Creating art feels much the same. It's a way for me to express myself freely, and being able to share that expression and see how others interpret it is one of my favorite parts of the process.

Most mornings, I find myself going straight from bed to my unofficial studio space (also known as my kitchen island) to work on whatever piece I'm creating. I love the process so much and often wish there were more hours in the day to experiment, explore ideas, and get completely absorbed in making something. I believe part of our experience in this world is to create, in whatever form that takes.

As I continue to move through life, the more I've learned to lean into the things I'm naturally drawn to, without feeling the need to justify them. I want to spend more of my time doing things that bring me joy, and creating art is one of them.
